What do people usually spend their money on during the holidays?

During the holidays, an incline in holiday spirit can sometimes turn into a fast decline for the money in your wallet.

So what makes the cash disappear?

People say that their money is spent in several different ways during the holiday season including buying gifts for others, purchasing warm drinks, and even paying for toasty car rides home.

“I find myself spending more money on Ubers and sorts of transportation because walking with bags in the cold is never fun as well,” said Emma Avery, a freshman at Michigan State University. 

Avery also said that she is not only in the market for a warm ride, but for a warm drink as well. 

“I typically buy hot chocolate or hot mochas,” said Avery.

Jackie Hsia, a junior at MSU, said that she spends about $500 a year on buying gifts.

“I usually spend my money on gifts for other people like my family, friends, and boyfriend,” said Hsia.
